XLC Seatpost Remote Vario SP-T08 light and cheap dropper post. It works nice but when broken it seems that it is not design to be serviced in your garage.
I have spent a few evnings in order to disassemble it, repair and make service possible.
Disassembly of main cylinder
1. Unscrew 13mm nut from the bottom
2. Unscrew bottom part of the main cyliner
3. Unscrew top cup4. Pull main cylinder down
Disassembly of inner cylinder from seat handle
Inner cylinder is connected with seat handle by glue. I have detached them by heating seat handle using gas burner and pulling it down. To make it easier I have designed whench https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3325170 . Cool it down by puting wet piece of material on bottom part of inner cylinder.
When disassembled succesfully you will get such view (Oil lock cylinder already unscrewed)
Oil lock disassembly
I have cut oil lock at the end in odrer to fix and improve it. Problem with my dropper was that it stopped locking and seat was falling.
In my case bottom oring in locking mechanism was damaged. I have change oring and add spring which push oil lock from the bottom.
Then I have added alloy internally threaded alloy nut which has been placed inside oil cylinder and drilled across cylinder. This hole has been threaded so that way by small screw end of oil cylinder is locked.
To be sure that air is not leaving the chamber via seat handle I have added oring there + small alloy ring on threaded rod.
Air valve
When Inner cylinder has been glued by epoxy glue toghether with sit handle I have drilled handle and cilinder in order to add presta air valve (threaded hole and valve glued by epoxy glue).
Addons
For easier maintenance I have drilled 6mm hole from the top:
and added spring
